Before you invite a friend
This is a documentation guide. This site has not tested multiplayer between real players over the internet. The steps and limits below come from the Cleanroom README; they are not a guarantee that a room will connect on your network.
These instructions apply only to andrewnakas’s Cleanroom browser build. They do not describe Asher, the original console game or Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Create or join a room
- Open Cleanroom and let the selected map load.
- Open Multiplayer, located beside the map selector according to the README.
- Choose a private room for an invitation link, or use a public room listed in the menu.
- For a private room, share the invitation link with your friends. The README describes links with a
?room=CODEparameter. - Make sure everyone uses the same map.
The README says public rooms show their map and player count. This site does not show live room availability or connect players itself.
Room limits and the host
| Detail | What the project documents |
|---|---|
| Players | Up to 10 players in one room. |
| Map | Everyone skates the same map. |
| Host | The first player to enter the room hosts it. |
| Host departure | If the host leaves, the remaining players need to reload to continue. |
| Shared state | The project describes shared positions, poses, tricks, ragdolls and player collisions. |
The project uses a WebSocket relay to pass session data between room members. This is the Cleanroom project’s infrastructure, not a server operated by this guide site.
If your session does not connect
- Check that everyone opened the same Cleanroom build and the same map.
- For a private session, reopen the invitation link you received.
- If the first player has left, follow the README’s instruction to reload.
- Read the current project README for changes or known limits.
We have not verified public-room discovery, network reliability, latency or a full 10-player session. There is no live service-status check on this page.
